Deaf-themed film screening at beautiful Hongkou theatre The Pearl.
China’s premiere of Rachel Shenton’s Oscar nominated short movie The Silent Child will happen during this event, alongisde a screening of award-winning short film Dawn of the Deaf, SHIDFF2018 organizer Sam Zheng’s film The Song for Single, and The Voice of Love by Mao Yu and Peng Fei. This film screening is a good opportunity for both the Deaf and the hearing community to work on creating a more inclusive society for deaf people.
The Silent Child
Chris Overton, Rachel Shenton / The Silent Child is an Oscar-winning short film and has its premiere in China during this screening. The Silent Child centers around a deaf four year old girl who lives in a silent world until a caring social worker teaches her the gift of communication.
